Grant writer

COMPANY OVERVIEW: 

Community Alliance Pact, Inc., “CAP”, is a Tax Exempt Charitable  Organization in Dallas, TX. Our mission is to help minimize poverty by teaching financial literacy to residents of underprivileged communities and providing them with access to knowledge, resources and mentorship that will allow them to get and stay financially fit!


QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Interest in government or philanthropic funding programs
  • Passionate about and confident in their writing ability
  • Critical and analytical thinkers
  • High attention to detail and organization
  • Outstanding knowledge of MS Office
  • Able to type minimum of 50 words per minute.
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Aptitude in problem solving
  • Able to work independently with minimal oversight and meet deadlines
  • A true passion for our mission


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Report to the Executive Director
  • Research/Identify Local, State, and Federal Government grants, Foundation Grants, and Corporate Grants that align with CAPs Mission and Programs
  • Fully understand and execute Grant directions
  • List findings (projects) in a shared spreadsheet documenting the Grantor's information, type of grant, qualifications, award amounts, deadlines, etc
  • Work with Executive Director and CFO to obtain project budget for the LOI and the proposal
  • Research, proofread, and write letters of inquiry, formal grant proposals, and stewardship documents
  • Proofread all documents
  • Develop compelling storytelling methods merged with scientific/academic writing strategies
  • Projects can consist of preparing grant application narratives and research based work
  • Meet with Executive Director on a weekly basis to discuss progression with projects
  • Other duties, as assigned


EXPERIENCE:

  • High school Diploma Required
  • Bachelor's in Political Science, English, History, Communications or an equivalent field
  • 2 years of Grant Research, Preparation, and Writing
